Rama Obeys His Father

King Dasharatha loved his son Rama dearly. He wanted Rama to become king. Everyone in the kingdom was happy!

But just before the coronation, Queen Kaikeyi reminded the king of a promise he had made long ago. She asked that her son Bharata become king, and that Rama be sent to the forest for 14 years.

King Dasharatha was heartbroken. He didn’t want Rama to leave. But a promise is a promise.

When Rama heard this, he did not get angry. He folded his hands and said, “I will go to the forest. It is my duty to obey my father.”

Rama left the palace wearing simple clothes. He walked barefoot into the forest with a calm and peaceful heart.

Everyone cried, but Rama smiled gently. He followed dharma — the path of truth and duty.

Moral: Doing the right thing is not always easy, but it is always good.

Parent Tip: When your child listens or follows a rule calmly, praise them for their strength.
