The Little Squirrel Who Helped Rama

Long, long ago, Rama and his army of monkeys were building a big stone bridge across the sea. They wanted to reach Lanka and rescue Sita.

The monkeys worked very hard. They carried heavy rocks and dropped them into the sea.

A little squirrel watched from the shore. He wanted to help too!

But he was very small. He couldn’t carry stones.

So, the squirrel ran to the sand, rolled in it, and ran to the water. He shook the sand off into the sea. Again and again, he did this — trying his best to help.

The monkeys laughed.

“What can you do with your tiny paws?” they said.

But Lord Rama saw the squirrel. He smiled and gently picked him up.

He stroked the squirrel’s back with his fingers and said,

“Your heart is big, little one. Your effort is precious.”

From that day, the squirrel had three lines on his back — the marks of Rama’s loving fingers.

Even today, squirrels carry those lines proudly.

Moral:

No help is too small when it comes from the heart.

Parent Tip:

Encourage your child to help in little ways — even tiny hands can do big things.
